The FineVision IOL is the first trifocal diffractive lens, providing patients with high-quality near, intermediate, and distance vision. It is available to patients who have cataracts or presbyopia and is the next generation of IOL technology. The implant offers patients a better chance to enjoy clear vision at all distances with reduced visual disturbance that is an issue with other Multifocal IOLs.

The switch between intermediate, near and distance vision is smooth and natural. Visually, the lens performs well at intermediate tasks such as computers. Importantly, the high resolution is maintained under all distances and lighting levels

It combines two diffractive structures that are adjusted to offer +3.5 D for near vision and another +1.75 D for intermediate vision. The trifocal lens reduces the amount of light lost with most diffractive IOLs and uses that light for intermediate vision, while maintaining the performance for near and distance. It has the possibility of achieving spectacle independence. In poor light conditions, the trifocal lens still performs well with only a minimal influence on the good functional vision achieved at all distances. Although a multifocal lens, most of the night vision problems are reduced.

However, irrespective of how technically advanced a lens is, the key to patient satisfaction is careful preparation. As with every refractive surgery procedure, the quality of communication with the patient, the precision of the biometry, and adequate IOL calculation are particularly important. In order to decide which lens to use, we need to decide on your requirements and lifestyle. Unfortunately, no one lens fits all.
